Taitua Arboretum
What is an Arboretum?
An Arboretum is a tree park filled with native/ non-native trees. The Arboretum that we went to is called Taitua Arboretum. It had chickens, ducks and other native birds such as pukeko. Where was it? Taitua arboretum is just out of Dinsdale. How far did we walk? We walked 3.8 kilometres in total on our walk. BY HAYLEY AND CHARLOTTE |
At the start, we started the walk with a scavenger hunt. So on the scavenger hunt we had to find
all sorts of things etc a rooster, insects, native plants and trees, signs of insects eating, seeds and seedlings. As we were
finishing off the scavenger hunt we were also doing other activities at certain shelters on the way. We did Leaf
rubbing and identifying plants by their leaves. In the leaf rubbing we had to grab a crayon and a
leaf. Put the leaf under a piece of paper and well rub it. For the identifying plants we had to find native leaves and find what the plant were using a special sheet that was like a key. It felt like the rest
we walked a pretty long way.
