MRS C GREN
We learnt how you can tell if something is living. You can use Mrs C Gren-
Movement Respiration (Like breathing or things like gases going in and out) Sensitivity ( For example - does it like lots of light?) Cells Grows Reproduction (Kind of like having babies) Excretion (Like poos and wees - waste matter) Nutrition (Like food and water) Miss Vowles tried to trick us by asking us if our seeds were alive. We decided that with nutrition they had POTENTIAL to come to life. |

The Living World - Our Science Rotation
These are our plants and beans we were first introduced to our plants about the 23 of febuary we are very excited to help our seeds grow into beans. and we are sure to help them by giving them all the nutrition they need. witch is sunlight soil and water.
Some of our beans went mouldy because people over watered them. They were then given a pea seed. Others are growing big and strong... By Lydie |
Flowers
In Mr Mason's class we learnt all about the parts of a flower. We thought it was funny that most flowers have a boy part and a girl part.
If it wasn't for bees, plants wouldn't be able to reproduce. That means we wouldn't be able to have lots of things.
Over 85% of all our foods come from or have something to do with plants that bees have helped along!
We had a competition to find food not helped by bees. We mainly came up with seafood's like fish and seaweed. Somethings we didn't even know came from a plant like sugar and peanuts-who knew!

Tree nettle is a type of weed and spikes grow out of it it feel like needles if you step on them. You will find them in forest parts of New Zealand they grow near tree below them. By Sarna and Leo |
Mini Beasts
In Miss Bells class we learnt all about Mini Beasts. We went on a bug hunt around the school and carefully caught mini beasts. We than brought them back to the classroom and tried to identify and classify them.
Since then, we have brought many different bugs from home to share with the class. |
Fruit
In Mrs Manktelow’s class we learnt some facts about fruit: - Most fruits are edible - All fruits have seeds - Strawberries are not fruit it’s not even a berry The real purpose of fruit other than getting eaten is: 1) Protecting the seeds and caring for them. 2) They then disperse the seeds. That is all for now hope you enjoy. By Ashton and Aqeel. |

The fly trap don't get triggered if the victim is dead,Monkey cups or Pitcher plant they lure there foe into a slippery hole fill with acid content. by:Daniel and Timothy |
Medicinal Plants
In Mr Pearts class we learnt about Medicinal Plants. We were shown some examples of how some plants help heal. We were given scenarios and we had to look through the symptoms and figure out how we could fix the problem. Next we had to use Explain Everything to make a slideshow on the scenario we got. Mr Peart told us that a rugby player got back on the field by having a bath with Kowhai leaves each day and that he played better than ever! So that basically sums up our visit to Mr Peart.
